How Mixpost works
This section is about the product itself — what the pieces are and how they fit together. It applies the same way however you got your Mixpost.
The pieces
Workspace
A workspace holds everything: its connected accounts, posts, media library, tags and people. Nothing is shared between workspaces, which is what makes them the right boundary for a brand or a client.
Accounts
An account is a social profile you have connected and authorised Mixpost to publish to. Each one belongs to a provider — X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube, Google Business Profile and others.
Posts and versions
A post is one idea, published to one or more accounts. Its default version is the content every account uses, and any account can be given a version of its own when a network needs different wording, different media or its own options.
A version is an ordered list of content items. One item is a normal post; several items publish as a thread on the networks that support one.
Per-provider options ride along with the version — a Pinterest board, a YouTube title, a TikTok privacy level — and are validated against that platform's rules.
Status
A post moves through a small set of states: draft while you work on it, scheduled once it has a time, needs approval where the workspace requires review, publishing while it goes out, then published or failed.
Only scheduled posts are checked against what each platform requires — a draft is never blocked, so you can save unfinished work.
The queue
Rather than picking a time for every post, a workspace can keep a posting schedule — the slots you want to publish in. Adding a post to the queue drops it into the next free slot.
Media
Images and videos live in the workspace's media library and can be reused across posts. Media carries alt text for accessibility, and videos can be given a chosen thumbnail.
Tags
Tags are labels on posts, used to group a campaign or a content type and to filter the calendar.
People and roles
Workspace members hold a role that decides what they can do:
- Admin and Member can create, edit, schedule and publish.
- Viewer is read-only for posts and media — but can still approve a post when given approval rights, which is exactly what a reviewing client or manager needs.
Approval rights are granted per member, separately from the role.
Automating it
Everything above is reachable without opening the dashboard:
Create, schedule and manage posts, media and tags from your own code.
Let an AI agent work in your workspace through the Model Context Protocol.
